Test-taking Advice for CIW Exams
Attend the official Prosoft CIW
certification course. At the course
you will appropriate instruction from a qualified CIW instructor, from whom
you can glean many real-world and test taking pointers. You will also receive
the official Prosoft CIW instruction manuals, from where most of the test
questions come. Although this is the most desirable way to prepare for the
exams, it is certainly not the only way.
Purchase a CIW book. Even
if you have attended the CIW course, you should pad your studying experience
with a book that has a real-world spin. Having the retrospect of a book
author who has plenty of real-world experience will fill in those gaps that
maybe the instructor at the course was unable to completely fulfill because
of their lack of this valuable experience. For those who choose to fore-go
the official course, try to choose a book that caters to the exam for which
you are studying. If you have the funds, pick up a second book that will
give you that all-important real-world perspective. In association with

Study free material on the Internet.
Whether you have the means to spend on
the above suggestions or not, finding free study material on the Internet
is a must. Many times you will find a forum in which people who have already
taken the exam can offer up some advice on what to prepare for before you
take the exam. You will also find free practice test questions, study guides,
admin guides, technology manuals, and a whole plethora of other information.
Do a search on Google for 'CIW exams', 'CIW certification', 'CIW study material',
or for the exact test number and name that you plan on taking. Start by
checking out the exam facts on our home
page for information about each CIW certification, and browse from there.
Gain experience. You
can take all of the classes, and read all of the books you desire, but nothing
beats good, old-fashioned experience. When you read books or take practice
exams (of which I will speak shortly) test each concept out yourself. This
way, you will actually experience what the author is writing about, not
just rely on mental visualization.
Take practice exams. The
last article of business that you should be concerned with is taking practice
exams to help you get a comparable feel for the real exam. Take the practice
exams over and over again until you are scoring over 90% every time. Look
up information in your CIW books, or on the Internet about subjects that
you are having a hard time grasping. Once you feel comfortable with the
practice exam, don't wait for more than a week to schedule the real exam.
Take the practice exam once more the night before, or the morning of the
exam. That way the material is fresh on your mind.
Of course, I'm going to tell you that our exams are unsurpassed in quality.
CIW exams are rather straight-foward, that is, there's not a considerable
amount of "fluff" in them. The good people at Prosoft author their
exams in a very "to-the-point" style. You don't need to go out
and spend $100.00 or more to get a practice exam with all of the latest
"bells and whistles". That's not going to help you in your preparation.
We strive to keep our exams straight-forward, inexpensive, and high quality,
giving you a chance to get a real feel for the official exam and gain some
worthy instruction along the way. Does that mean we don't have great features
