BEA Certification Exam Guides
BEA Certification enables and measures the proficiency of application development and implementation team members and helps maximize the return on BEA technology investment. Proven role-based technical training, available through the BEA Certification Program, builds customer and partner self-sufficiency by transferring knowledge and best practices on BEA technology across the entire IT lifecycle.

BEA Certification objectively validates knowledge and expertise on BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1, BEA WebLogic Platform 9 and BEA's approach to SOA. It measures the proficiency of application development and implementation team members. Proven role-based technical training, available through the BEA Certification Program builds customer and partner self-sufficiency by transferring BEA knowledge and best practices on BEA technology across the entire IT lifecycle.

As part of our continued commitment to building competency on BEA technology, BEA offers a number of certification paths focused on BEA product technology, as well as BEA's approach to Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). The BEA Certification Program provides valuable, measurable rewards to IT professionals, their managers, and the BEA technology-based organizations that employ them.

The BEA Certification Program has three certifications: BEA 8.1 Certified Developer, BEA Certified Administrator, and BEA Certified Architect, which includes the new SOA Enterprise Architect designation. Within each certification, there are role specific designation(s) or areas of "specialization," allowing the individual a focused certification path. Certifications are granted by passing the required multiple-choice exams in a proctored testing environment, or by completing the specific certification requirements within a designated path.

The BEA Certification Program targets three audiences: developer, administrator and architect. Individuals interested in becoming certified may select the applicable certification role and certification designation.

BEA 8.1 Certified Developer
BEA Certified Administrator
BEA Certified Architect

BEA 8.1 Certified Developer
BEA 8.1 Certified Developer Certification is applicable to those responsible for implementing applications deployed on BEA technologies. BEA 8.1 Certified Developers must be able to implement custom Web applications, interactive portal solutions, complex integrations and other software used in enterprise applications.

The BEA 8.1 Certified Developer Certification has three specific designations. These designations serve as areas of specialization for the individuals and allow for a focused certification path. Only one designation is required to receive the BEA 8.1 Certified Developer Certification; however, more than one is permitted.

BEA Certified Administrator
The BEA Certified Administrator Certification is applicable to administrators who are responsible for managing the infrastructure and applications deployed on BEA technologies. Administration tasks include day-to-day site monitoring and maintenance, infrastructure configuration, network management, system installation, tuning, system backup and restoration, application migration, quality of service management and security implementation.

The BEA Certified Administrator Certification has one specific designation offered for both WebLogic Platform 8.1 and WebLogic Platform 9. This designation serves as an area of specialization for the participants and allows for a focused certification path.

BEA Certified Architect
The BEA Certified Architect Certification is applicable to those architects overseeing the design of enterprise applications and infrastructure that leverages BEA technologies. Architects are responsible for performing technology due diligence and trade-off analysis, designating key design and implementation guidelines, overseeing project implementation and defining implementation success criteria. An architect is capable of managing multiple and strategic enterprise wide projects, team management, selecting and evaluating new technologies, and designing new systems and integrations with legacy assets. They also have strong architectural skills and the ability to think abstractly, while focusing on the concepts of the project rather than the implementation.

The BEA Certified Architect Certification has two designations. These designations serve as areas of specialization for the participants and allow for two certification paths: one focuses on product/technology, while the other focuses on SOA Concepts, Design and Implementation.
